Welcome to Highland Hang gliding & Paragliding Club, the club for free flyers and powered foot launch glider pilots. We are a registered club affiliated to the BHPA (www.bhpa.co.uk) and exist to help our members get more out their sport and to provide a structure for local and visiting pilots to meet up and discuss flying, equipment and more. Although our membership is small we have some of the best flying sites in the country right on our doorstep and when the weather obliges the flying possibilities are endless. At present we do not have regular club meetings although we have an online discussion group which is open to non-members as well. Why not drop in and introduce yourself. We get a lot of enquiries from people looking to enter the sport and although initial training is not given we can coach pilots that have attained their Elementary rating. If you are new to the sport please do not hesitate to contact us before undertaking training and especially before buying equipment which should only be done with good, reliable advice. The BHPA have a document on buying your first glider which covers some of the important points to look for and watch out for. Download it here . Visiting pilots please note that although we enjoy legal access to virtually all of the Highlands there are landowners of the better sites that we maintain relationships with and have no-fly agreements at certain times of year (e.g. lambing, grouse shooting). Ideally you should announce your arrival to our online discussion group where we can advise of any such areas. Fly Safe! |

Coming to the Highlands? Intending to fly?
Whilst we enjoy easy access to many of the hills and mountains in our area you should be aware that relationships exist with a number of landowners. You should also be aware of the dangers that exist in our region. Start off on the right foot by announcing your visit at our online group - we are confident we can help you get more from your visit and maintain the good relationships we currently enjoy.
